Tasks:
The appointee will coordinate and further develop instruction in academic communication at the College, focusing on writing and presentation skills, with the aim of enabling all our students to attain mastery of academic communication at the highest level. This will include organizing and teaching skills training courses in writing and presentation skills, as well as setting up a system of individual feedback on student papers. It also includes organizing workshops, meeting with students informally, and setting an example of excellence in academic communication. As a member of UCM’s core staff, the appointee is expected to play an active role in the UCM academic community, to support relevant extracurricular activities, and carry out day-to-day academic tasks such as academic advising, admissions interviews, and supervising student research.

Requirements:
We expect applicants to have a PhD in a relevant field, and some teaching experience. Proficiency on the level of a near-native/native speaker is essential, as is a passion for high-quality teaching. The College is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys interacting with students, both inside and outside the classroom, and working with them to develop their writing and presentation skills. As such the successful candidate will have affinity with the ideal of academic community. A wide-ranging academic interest, teaching experience in a demanding international environment, and experience with a liberal arts and sciences curriculum are assets.

We offer:
A contract for a limited period of 24 months, starting around August 1st 2014, with the possibility of extending to a tenured position, after a positive performance evaluation. Your salary amounts to a maximum of € 4462,00, according to scale 11, depending on prior experience (UFO profile: “docent”, level 3). On top of this, there is an 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance. Non-Dutch applicants could be eligible for a favorable tax treatment (30% rule).
