PROJECT OFFICER – Recovery of the Fishery Sector

Starting date:April 2014People in Need (PIN)is an international non–governmental organization that provides relief and development assistance in over 20 countries around the world. Formed in 1992 in the Czech Republic, PIN has grown to be the biggest organisation of its kind in Central Europe. For more information visitwww.peopleinneed.cz.
In Philippines we have started to provide relief to the affected population immediately after the typhoon Yolanda, focusing on food aid, access to drinking water and sanitation. At the same time, we started to run Cash for Work program, where hundreds of people clear the debris and earn small income to sustain their basic needs. In longer perspective, we focus on schools rehabilitation and restoration of livelihoods.
Responsibilities:
· Implementation of PIN’s Livelihood recovery activities in fishery sector
· Ensure that PIN’s Livelihood activities in fishery sector are in line with the Government’s strategies
· Planning of activities alongside the Livelihood Program Manager and Project Officer for Agriculture
· Assist with ensuring good coordination with other aid actors and relevant Government departments
· Assist with the identification and design of new Livelihood recovery activities and program development
· Monitor implementation of the project and provide written and oral reports on activities and outputs
· Assist with data collection, entry, processing and translation
· Perform assigned related tasks by the Livelihood Program Manager
Candidate’s profile
· Preferably a degree in Fisheries/ Agriculture or any related field
· 1-2 years’ work experience on similar position
· Strong and proven managerial and planning skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Proficiency in English (speaking, writing and reading is essential), good level of computer literacy
· Familiarity with Giporlos, Mercedes, Salcedo and Guiuan communities is an advantage
· Flexible, willing to work in a team while able to solve problems independently
· Willing to work in different locations (including islands such as Homonhon)
