Senior Economic Analyst
We’re looking for an innovative Senior Economic Analyst with a flair for producing insightful and engaging analysis to play a key role ensuring Shelter’s policy and campaigning work is underpinned by a strong evidence base.
In this exciting role you will use economic and analytical expertise to help shape our policy vision, making an important contribution to developing new solutions to help achieve the changes that millions of people in Britain in bad housing or facing homelessness need. You will produce high-impact data analysis which will be at the heart of our campaigning, helping us to find new ways to demonstrate the extent and impact of the housing crisis, and develop innovative approaches to the use of economic research and data which will help consolidate Shelter’s reputation for rooting our work in evidence.

Your key responsibilities:
- Developing Shelter’s strategic economic and analytical capability and profile
- Working closely with colleagues to develop innovative approaches to economic and statistical research that helps meet Shelter’s strategic priorities.
- Providing expert advice on appropriate methodologies (such as cost benefit analysis and return on investment) for undertaking analysis
- Briefing senior colleagues on trends in external economic trends and indicators and how they affect policy
And what you’ll need:
- A graduate or post-graduate qualification in economics or other quantitative social science
- A general research background, a grounding in economics and a track record of producing quality market analysis
- A proven ability to communicate tailored research effectively to a variety of audiences
- Strong project management and organisational skills that ensure outputs are delivered on time and to budget
- Experience of using SPSS or similar analytical packages, plus advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of housing and homelessness issues is desirable but not essential
