Technical Support Engineer

Job description 
Reports to: National Training and Technical Support ManagerTechnical Support (50%) – Provide technical support to the Service Technicians when issues cannot be resolved, training and/or information to distributors, dealers, field sales and service, internal departmental personnel, and sales companies regarding industrial and oil-free products marketed throughout the region. Review new products and product information from a sales and service perspective to determine feasibility and required resources and/or services. Visit customer sites, as and when required, to inspect equipment in special and difficult cases which could not be resolved by either Atlas Copco or distributor field operations.Customer Service (30%) – Review feedback on product performance and operational issues. Forward feedback to appropriate departments/authorities/divisions and initiate corrective actions to bring these issues to prompt, satisfactory resolution. Liaise with technical support engineers at Airpower to expedite the timely and appropriate resolution of service issues. Warranty Claims and Part Returns (20%) - Review and process warranty claims for industrial and oil free products. Review and process material that is returned (service initiated or element exchanges), as needed. Prepare and distribute inspection reports and other notifications for field release based on this review and analysis. Perform assigned duties in accordance with Atlas Copco standards, while always striving to understand the needs and expectations of the customer. Take whatever action is appropriate and required to get the job done and to establish and maintain communications with all people/employees considered necessary to get the job done.Perform additional duties as assigned.

Mission 
Provide technical support, training and/or information to internal and external customers, including assisting sales and field service operations in the resolution of challenging issues, reviewing and processing warranty claims, and preparing inspections reports and other relevant notifications for field release.

Experience requirements 
3-5 years of technical field service experience maintaining and repairing industrial compressors and dryers (Atlas Copco and other). Demonstrated expertise in the maintenance, overhaul and repair of a wide variety of Atlas Copco industrial and oil-free compressors. Strong mechanical and electrical skills, with an understanding of mechanical and electrical components and the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and relay logic.

Knowledge 
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, as well as in IBM Lotus Notes applications.

Educational requirements 
4-year technical and/or mechanical engineering degree, or equivalent experience (e.g. 10+ years)
