Job Purpose
To manage Gatwick schedule and slots, and optimise the schedule to maximise profitability
Job Dimensions/Measures
Scheduling 10 long-haul and 24 short-haul aircraft, 2-3 direct reports
Principal Accountabilities
- Performance manages, motivates and develops the team of Scheduling and Slot Management Executives
- Manages the process of Gatwick schedule development to agreed timescales, manages key stakeholders throughout the process and effects a smooth handover to the Operation
- Leads a monthly Gatwick network scheduling and manpower planning process, bringing together key stakeholders to ensure each schedule snapshot is manpower feasible, cost effective and provides a robust schedule to delivery to the customer
- Develops and produces management information to support the planning process
- Ensures that spare time in the schedule is distributed in a way that supports the operational robustness of the schedule using the Fleet Allocation Manager (FAM) system, increases resource efficiency, aircraft utilization targets and delivers improved punctuality to the customer
- Work with BA Planning and 3rd party system suppliers (e.g. SABRE) to understand/develop functionality of planning system and fully exploit their functionality to optimise the Gatwick business (trade off man power efficiency, punctuality, operating costs and commercial revenue)
- Develops the Gatwick and Other End of Route slot portfolio, and ensures that the existing slot portfolio, noise and night jet constraints are not put under threat, and that appropriate over-flight authorisations are secured
- Develops and implements Gatwick Slot Strategy and ensures Airport Co-ordination Limited (ACL) understand the BA slot requirements and rationale
- Works with Gatwick Airport Limited (GAL) to ensure they effectively support the evolution of the BA programme
- Ensures Gatwick requirements are taken account of in the fleet plan
- Works with Heathrow scheduling team on the allocation of share fleet on a day by day level
- Works with Engineering Planning to minimize the impact of changing engineering requirements to the customer and commercial performance
- Works to minimize the impact on customers of schedule change and works with Gatwick Revenue Management and Revenue Operations to manage customers affected by changes
- Uses the BA process to communicate and agree proposed schedule changes
- Identifies and implements systems, best practice processes and metrics to improve the quality and transparency of the schedule planning process including feedback processes from current performance

- Highly numerate with excellent analytical skills and software skills
- Structured approach: ability to manage operational requirements whilst delivering transformational change
- Strong relationship building across different levels in the organisation and effective team player

- Proven influencing ability to a senior level
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Essential qualifications
- Qualified to degree level in a numerate subject
Experience
- Experience of airport slot co-ordination or schedule planning is an advantage
- Experience of analysing and large volumes of complex data from different sources
- Experience of managing people with differing objectives in a cross functional environment
Expertise
- Excellent knowledge of and ability to use Excel
- Experience of network planning systems desirable
