Inclusive market development advisor, India

More than half the world lives in poverty. We aim to put a stop to that. So we campaign against the inequalities that keep people poor and we work with local organisations to give people strength to find their own solutions to the problems they face. If you’re as determined as we are to end poverty and injustice across the world, work with us to make change happen.
This exciting opportunity will enable you, as a natural leader and skilled professional, to use your talent to mobilise people and resources and to make a very real difference to those living in poverty.
As the Inclusive Market Development Advisor, you will bring technical experience and entrepreneurial skills to support Christian Aid’s programmes across Asia and the Middle East and build on their current market and enterprise based work. You will seek new opportunities, alliances and partnerships to further enhance this work.
We are looking for someone who as part of Change Alliance will support the development of Christian Aid’s programmes that aim to drive systemic market change. The post holder will have experience of a number of market and enterprise related approaches.
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced person that will assist Christian Aid’s programmes to develop a strategic approach as to how markets and enterprise can contribute to and drive pro-poor development.
You will be willing and able to travel, sometimes to hostile environments, in order to provide support to programmes. You will have good analytical, written and communication skills and be able to work effectively with different actors – from donors, local organisations and communities.
Please show your suitability for this post by giving answers to the following questions: Using the guidance notes may help you formulate your answers.
Communicate effectively
Tell us about a time when you had to apply a range of negotiating and influencing skills to secure agreement with a diverse group of people or stakeholders where there was little common ground.
Strive for improvement
Please give us an example of when you encouraged other people to identify more creative and innovative solutions to problems.
Build partnerships
Tell us about a time when you had to promote the building of relationships in a complex situation, across a range of different people to achieve your own organisation’s programme goals.
We value the contribution each person makes to the success of our organisation. That’s why you can expect a wide range of rewards and benefits, including a generous holiday allowance, an interest-free season ticket loan and flexibility that will ensure you enjoy a good work/life balance.
