Programme officer, Brazil

This is a very interesting post based in São Paulo, Brazil, providing support andmanagement to Christian Aid partnerships and programmes as well as the effective disbursement of funds to Christian Aid partners working on the programme.
The Programme officer will haveto contribute to the development of Christian Aid policy and strategy in relation to tax and gender justiceas well the role ofBrazil in the international scenario. You will require experience on policy,advocacy, campaigning,communications and fundraising, including institutional donors.In order to perform the role with the wider Christian Aid and with partners in Brazil you will need to demonstrate a good understanding of issues of inequality, gender and power based on significant experience in international development.
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Portuguese are essential.
Essentials skills and experience required for this role are:
  • Graduate in a relevant discipline
  • Understanding of issues of inequality, power, gender and tax justice in Brazil
  • Understanding of issues regarding the role of Brazil in the international scenario
  • Experience with partnership approach to international development
  • Significant experience with social movements, faith based organisations and NGOs in Brazil
  • Significant experience in project negotiation and management, financial controls and procedures, project appraisal, monitoring and evaluation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to discuss and address sensitive issues
  • Understanding of policy, advocacy, campaigning within an INGO scope
  • Experience of providing training, technical support and/or advice on programme performance / programme cycle management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Portuguese
  • Fundraising experience with institutional donors, foundations and trustees
