UNICEF, the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks an International Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Specialist, P-3, Yangon, Myanmar.

Qualification or Specialized Knowledge/Experience Required:
1) Advanced university degree in development studies, political sciences, international relations, social sciences, economics, engineering or public health
2) A minimum of 5-8 years of experience with either the UN and/or NGO in development, emergency or recovery settings.
3) Demonstrated knowledge and thorough understanding of DRR and/or resilience and its implication for children
4) Fluency in English (oral and written). Good written and spoken skills in the language of the humanitarian operation. Knowledge of another UN language an asset.
5) Translates strategic DRR/Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) directions into practical action
6) Knows how to work in a team
7) Communicates effectively to varied audiences
8) Has resilience to cope with stressful and difficult conditions and political/cultural sensitivity
9) Sets high standards for quality of work and consistently achieves project goals
10) Negotiates effectively by exploring a range of possibilities
11) Quickly builds rapport with individuals and groups; maintains an effective network of individuals across various organizations
12) Contributes and tries out innovative approaches and insights
