Project Field Coordinator

SNV Vietnam is seeking a Project Field Coordinator, based in Ha Tinh with frequent travel (National employment contract)
SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995. Using market based approaches, SNV is committed to reducing poverty by catalyzing environmentally sustainable solutions for the poor in agriculture, energy, water & sanitation, and REDD+.
SNV is engaged in the project “Advancing Understanding of Forest Carbon Stock Enhancement at Landscape level as part of REDD+”, (ENRICH II) 2015-2018, which provides Advanced understanding and application of forest carbon stock enhancement at the landscape level through implementation of three project demonstration models: i) Enhancing forest carbon stock in degraded forest and forest land areas, ii) appropriate renewable energy technology and iii) the System of Rice Intensification (SRI). We are seeking for a Project Field Officer to coordinate/monitor the project field work activities in Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces. This position will work under guidance and supervision of the ENRICH project Manager.
Responsibilities
  • Liaise, maintain good relationship and coordinate activities with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) and each agency responsible for the implementation of various elements of the project in project target provinces.
  • Assist local project partners and relevant   stakeholders implement the project activities and delivering resultant outputs
  • Assist the mobilization and coordination of activities implemented by consultant service providers
  • Monitor activity implementation progress and quality of fieldwork implemented by consultant service providers in local project areas
  • Provide support in organisational matters/facilitation for meetings/workshops/trainings and other capacity building activities of the project
  • Contribute lessons learnt on local-level implementation of REDD+ components to other SNV project sites, local and national government agencies, and other REDD+ stakeholders in Vietnam
  • Prepare and update regularly work-plans and reports of the project to keep project partners informed about project progress
  • Interpret (English into Vietnamese and vice versa) during work activities at project sites for international expert when it is requested.
  • Prepare and monitor expenditure of project site-activity budget plans
  • Prepare and check correctness of invoices /receipts
  • Manage project’s equipment and the petty cash levels at the field level
Candidate profile
  • University degree in forestry, environmental or social sciences, rural development or related fields
  • Minimum of 5 year experience in natural resources management and/or rural development
  • Field work experience with INGO is an advantage
  • Basic understanding about REDD+
  • Adequate understanding of financial and accounting procedures
  • Ability to work independently and be a good in team player 
  • Good communication skills in English in both spoken and written;   
  • Good computer skills in MS-applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Email, Power Points).

Contract Duration: one-year employment contract with the possibility of extension and a competitive salary package
Desired start date: 15th August 2015
