Internship, WFP Programme and Policy Unit, Nicaragua Country Office
The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under the Programme and Policy Unit. The position will be based in Managua, Nicaragua Country Office. The Internship will be for an initial period of 6 months starting from August 2016.
Description
The selected candidate will be assisting the CO Programme and Policy Unit with the following key duties:
· Compiling and systematizing WFP Nicaragua Country Office´s capacity development and strengthening activities, implemented with the Government of Nicaragua (GoN) since 2008 in areas of nutrition, school feeding, purchase for progress, emergency preparedness & response and logistics;
· These will include review of country office´s (CO) and regional bureau´s (RB) reports; documents; projects in progress; corporate policies, directives and guidelines; interviews of WFP and Government staff directly involved in the design and implementation of capacity development/strengthening activities; and also participation in current related activities;
· Identifying from these activities lessons learned and best practices to be replicated;
· Elaborating a proposal of Capacity Development/Strengthening plan for the Nicaragua CO in line with GoN priorities, to be implemented during last years of current Country Programme and to be included in the future Country Strategy;
· Supporting CO with administrative tasks related with the implementation of capacity development and strengthening activities;
· Perform other duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 12 months in Political Science, History, Social Science, Economics, Anthropology, Development Cooperation, Latin American Studies,
· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
· Fluent in English and Spanish
Terms and Conditions
· Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$700 per month depending on the duty station of assignment, (approximately $400 for Managua)
· WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, travel to and from WFP internship location, necessary visas and costs related.
