Make the most of your analytical skills and admin experience. Provide critical support for our emergency relief work in the East and Horn of Africa. The more efficiently you handle everything from grants processing to financial monitoring, the more effective we’ll be.

The East and Horn of Africa has experienced drought over the last few years and is now facing a severe crisis. We’re responding on a large scale, over 4 countries – expanding our programmes and enlarging our teams. You’ll support these teams by shouldering a range of different programme support, admin and financial responsibilities. In particular, you’ll monitor grant allocations, checking that funding from different sources is assigned correctly. You will analyse and interpret reports, asking whether objectives have been achieved and raising any questions or concerns with the Emergency Programme Officers. Throughout, you’ll regularly update databases, electronic records and our intranet; and you’ll always keep a close eye on budgets. You’ll also keep up to date on policy discussions providing support to the programme teams and advocacy staff on the latest developments and debates. You will be required to travel extensively in the region supporting country teams. You will ensure good communications within the team ensuring regular updates are circulated.

Thanks to your strong admin background, you’ll already have experience in key areas like preparing and monitoring budgets, and maintaining effective systems and processes. Just as importantly, you’ll be meticulous with detail and analytical, with a genuine interest in international development work. You’ll have an understanding of how policy and programmes are linked and influence each other. If you get real job satisfaction out of delivering rock-solid support, then reinforcing our efforts to make a difference during this high-profile emergency could hardly be more rewarding.

More than half the world lives in poverty. We aim to put a stop to that. So we campaign against the structures and rules that keep people poor. And we work with local organisations to give people strength to find their own solutions to the problems they face, irrespective of their religion. If you’re as determined as we are to end poverty and injustice across the world, work with us to make change happen.

We value the contribution each person makes to the success of our organisation. That’s why you can expect a wide range of rewards and benefits, including a generous holiday allowance, an interest-free season ticket loan, and flexibility that will ensure you enjoy a good work/life balance
