POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Title: Analyst, Center for Geoeconomic Studies

Salary: Based on education and experience

The Council’s Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program’s aim is to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.

The Analyst will work in the Maurice R. Greenberg Center for Geoeconomic Studies, the part of the Studies department that focuses on the intersection of international economics and international relations. This is an exceptional opportunity for a creative mind to exhibit original ideas and work. Among other responsibilities, the analyst will be expected to:

* Maintain and update databases that underpin the Center’s quarterly chartbooks, which track BRIC foreign exchange reserves, foreign ownership of U.S. assets, and the U.S. economic cycle.
* Prepare, source, and analyze data in support of the Center’s Geo-Graphics blog, exercising initiative in selecting promising subjects at the intersections of international relations and international economics.
* Research specific areas, including economics, geopolitics, and international affairs, as requested by the Fellow.
* Show initiative in generating new ideas for chartbooks.


Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

* Degree in Economics or International Relations with coursework in statistics and high academic credentials
* Extensive knowledge of macroeconomic data sets
* Related work or internship experience, with proven interest in economics and geopolitics
* Outstanding research and writing skills
* Proficiency with statistics
* Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
* Strong proofreading and editing skills
* Excellent computer skills, primarily strong Excel skills
