CATALOGUER (GSA5) The African Union
The African Union, established as a unique Pan African continental body, is charged with spearheading Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development by promoting unity, solidarity, cohesion and cooperation among the peoples of Africa and African States as well as developing a new partnership worldwide. Its Headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, capital city of Ethiopia.
In seeking to achieve this objective, the African Union intends to strengthen its capacity to deliver by, among others, the implementation of a new organizational structure and the filling of vacant posts.
The Commission of the African Union invites applicants who are citizens of Member States for the post of Cataloguer.

2. Major Duties and responsibilities
Entering data using ‘in-magic software’;
Create Proper Records Management System to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the Process of retrieval and Storage of records in the PSD
Conduct Continuous maintenance of the database for the new arrivals and take regular back-up of the database and digitized files for the PSD registry
Provide information service to the users of the PSD database
Scanning and indexing documents;
Ensuring the availability of the PSD records to be accessed on line by the PSD staff;
Requesting office supplies using SAP software;
Answering incoming calls and providing information and documents to PSD staff etc.
Assisting the Registry Clerk when need arises, in receiving and registering incoming mail and out-going mails;
Performing any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

3. Qualifications and Experience Required
Diploma in Library Science from a recognized educational institution.
A higher qualification will be an added advantage
Good knowledge and practical use of Computer are mandatory
A minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience in Cataloguing and/or clerical work
4. Language Requirement: Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages (English, French, Arabic or Portuguese). Knowledge of other working languages would be an added advantage.
5. Age Requirement: Candidates must preferably be between 25 – 35 years old.
6. Tenure of Appointment: The appointment will be made on a fixed term contract for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months will be considered as a probationary period. Thereafter, the contract will be for a period of two years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance.

8. Remuneration: The salary attached to the position is an annual lump-sum of US$ 42,742.05 inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff, and US$
