Head of Development and Communication, Beijing, China
Responsibilities:
- Directs and oversees INBAR’s fundraising and communication teams, strategies and efforts.
- Defines and continuously updates INBAR’s fundraising strategies focusing on securing funding from a broad scope of donors, including bilateral and multilateral agencies, private and corporate foundations, and individuals, and ensures financing and mission are moving forward together.
- Provides leadership to the successful implementation of INBAR’s communications strategy aimed at raising the organization’s profile at global, regional and national levels.
- Oversees and coordinates all aspects of fundraising programmes, including the writing of high-quality, competitive grant proposals and donor communications in cooperation with the Director General, Programmes, Regional Offices and Finance Department.
- Manages systems and staff to monitor fundraising efforts and ensure timely reporting to all INBAR donors, including supervising the continuous updating of relevant databases.
Requirements:
Education, experience, technical skills and competencies
- University degree in international relations or marketing, development, communications, fundraising, business administration or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years progressive experience in international fundraising, proposal development and communications, preferably for an international or non-profit development organization.
- Proven track record of securing large scale funding from bilateral and multilateral donors, private and corporate foundations and individuals that fund activities related to INBAR’s mission.
- Superior knowledge of best practices and current trends in international fundraising and communications.
- Experience of living and working in developing countries.
- Native speaker level fluency in English is required; proficiency in other international languages such as Chinese Mandarin, Spanish and or French is desirable.
- Experience with multicultural organizations and affinity with sustainable development issues (ecosystems, livelihoods and trade)
- Excellent inter-personal, team, communication and organizational skills.
Terms and conditions
INBAR offers attractive and competitive remuneration, comprised of a monthly base salary, secondary benefits and a bonus element.
The initial contract will be for 1 year with the possibility of extension for up to 3 years contingent upon performance and available resources.
The position will be based in INBAR’s headquarters in Beijing, China
