| IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector. We help developing countries achieve sustainable growth by financing investment, providing advisory services to businesses and governments, and mobilizing capital in the international financial markets. In fiscal 2011, amid economic uncertainty across the globe, we helped our clients create jobs, strengthen environmental performance, and contribute to their local communities—all while driving our investments to an all-time high of nearly $19 billion. For more information, visit www.ifc.org. IFC’s engagement with US and Canadian shareholders, companies and partners is critical to the implementation of its global business strategy. IFC’s headquarters are in Washington DC, where a dedicated unit is being established to serve as anchor and bring greater focus and attention to two shareholder countries that are critical for investment sponsorship and financing, mobilization and donor funding. This is in line with IFC’s current practice in other regions. The unit will promote IFC in the United States and Canada and support business development efforts of Global Industry Departments (GIDs), mobilization efforts by the Syndicated Loans Department as well as donor relations management by Advisory Services.
