Lecturer in Economics
LUBS is a leading international business school and a strong research-led Faculty of the University of Leeds. It holds a ‘5’ rating for international excellence in research, and accreditation from EQUIS and AMBA. You will be committed to developing and delivering high quality research-driven teaching: contributing to the School’s teaching programme at Undergraduate level. You will provide effective research student supervision to postgraduate students, make a leading contribution to research programmes in the field of Economics and contribute to administration of the School and its taught programmes. In addition you will be expected to provide pastoral advice and guidance to students.
You will have interests in any appropriate research in Economics, but you are expected to translate excellence in research and scholarship into learning opportunities for students. You will be responsible for the management and development of the student experience and will also act as a personal tutor to Economics students. A major theme within your work will be managing the transition from the first to the second and third years of university life. In particular, you will support students’ development of the independent learning skills required in the upper levels of their degree. You will also be able to make a significant academic contribution to the School’s offering in employability.
You will have a strong grounding in Economics and be able to demonstrate excellent research-led teaching in this field. You will be able to teach Economics students in a variety of settings, including lectures, workshops and small group tutorials and will contribute to the development and assessment of modules. In addition you should demonstrate effective communication and organisational skills, an ability to work as a member of a team and a commitment to providing an excellent student experience for undergraduate students. You will be encouraged to participate fully in the intellectual and social life of both the Economics division and the Faculty.
