Salary: R333 548 – R430 380 per annum (plus benefits) (Ref. Man/Res)
Minimum requirements:
- Honours degree in Research/Statistical Analysis/Public Administration or an equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
- Master’s degree and experience within a legislative sector would be added advantages
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in quantitative and qualitative research
- Excellent analytical and financial management skills
- Excellent knowledge of current socio-economic and political issues
- Performance and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent report-writing skills
- Driver’s licence.
Core responsibilities:
- Manage and direct the provision of comprehensive research and analysis to the Speaker, Council and its Committees
- Develop appropriate research benchmarks for Local Government
- Develop and implement an effective research strategy, methodology and process
- Identify, initiate, conduct and manage research projects
- Disseminate research findings and reports to relevant stakeholders
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of departmental business (operational) plans, and overall analysis of departmental performance to enhance the committees’ oversight role and effective departmental accountability
- Conduct analysis of departmental budgets, quarterly and annual reports
- Identify and initiate research projects to ensure that the committee agenda is influenced by research
- Manage and coordinate research projects to ensure that research projects are delivered according to Committee requirements
- Provide strategic advice on Committee agendas to ensure the correct focus on committee actions
- Disseminate research information to ensure improved decision making
- Compile and present reports
- Develop and maintain relationships and networks with international, national and provincial Research Institutes, Institutions of Higher Learning, researchers within the public, private and NGO sectors.
