Job mission

To deliver an end to end central Category management by Portfolio i.e. managing all aspects of procurement specific to the category ranging from demand management, category strategy, supplier selection & evaluation and transactional procurement.

KPA duties

•Develop Category strategies using the Category Management methodology
•Ensure buy in and execution of category strategies.
•Accountable for the delivery of agreed savings and value add targets and measures aligned to the savings methodologies
•Ensure the delivery of projects , goods and services across the category
•Manage a detailed Category procurement strategy with clearly defined and measurable goals and objectives
•Work in partnership with Operations (Opcos) and Enablers to ensure alignment of activities to support the Category Execution; in line with the Procurement Model activity analysis
•Provide leadership to teams ensuring individual and collective success
?Constitute and lead cross-functional teams to procure and manage quality and rate service delivery
?Lead project teams to innovate and drive improvements to derive future value
?Manage and develop effective and beneficial supplier relationships
•Manage the category budgetary process
•Undertake benchmark analysis and business case development when required
•Manage Key supplier performance management - performance tracking and monitoring relative to agreed measures
•Manage contract and price book relevant to the respective category
•Drive and co ordinate supplier relationships and internal MTN communication process for the respective categories under control

Educational requirements

Tertiary level – B degree, preferably with certification appropriate to Supply Chain Management or Procurement – e.g. CPM or CPIM

Experience required

•5 years in a senior procurement / contract management / supply chain management role or as functional expert in chosen category
•Application of procurement best practices and supplier negotiation at executive level
