District Health BoardThe Dunedin School of Medicine, in association with the Southern District Health Board (SDHB), invites applications from suitably-qualified candidates for the position of Professor or Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health at the University of Otago, to be held concurrently with the SDHB. This is a joint clinical University/Southern District Health Board post.
The academic component (up to 0.5 FTE) involves teaching predominantly medical undergraduates and postgraduates, and research. The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of research and scholarship, and the ability to provide strong academic leadership. They will have sustained records of achievement that demonstrate commitment to high quality teaching and research, the ability to work cooperatively with staff and students, a successful record in postgraduate supervision and the ability to promote research activity and attract research funding.
The clinical position (0.5 FTE) involves provision of secondary and tertiary level obstetrics and gynaecological services, including colposcopy, laparoscopy, antenatal clinics, delivery suite duties, and general gynaecology inpatient and outpatient work.
The successful applicant will be expected to maintain a programme of eminent scholarly research and publication, to contribute to the Department’s overall teaching programme, to supervise undergraduate and graduate research projects, and to assume appropriate responsibilities at Departmental, School, Division and University levels.
