The Oyu Tolgoi project is a large surface and underground Greenfields copper and gold mining project in the Aimag of Omnogovi, located in the South Gobi region of Mongolia. The property is approximately 550 km south of the capital city, Ulaanbaatar. The elevation of the Oyu Tolgoi property ranges from 1,140 m to 1,215 m above sea level.
Rio Tinto brings to the partnership experience in project development and operating capability. The initial mining operation will be open cut, with construction and development on underground mine occurring in parallel. First ore is planned for Q3 2012. The project is currently in construction phase and further developments will occur as the underground is bought into production in 2016-17 and an expansion of the concentrator is likely.
Reporting to the Manager - HR Projects, the Remuneration Superintendant will build the remuneration structure foundation at OT and will be responsible for the rollout and execution of the Remuneration strategy. The role will involve scoping, developing and implementing remuneration policies and benefits aligned to both the remuneration strategy and the overall business approach. The incumbent will plan and execute the annual salary review for expatriates, direct hires and local employees in liaison with the broader HR team, continue reviewing market data on a six monthly basis to identify and recommend to the business whether salary adjustments or an additional salary review is required, and work with the P&OS Remuneration team and the Total rewards GPL for alignment with Rio Tinto frameworks. Taking into consideration Rio Tinto's approach to remuneration and benefits, the incumbent will develop and embed a Mongolian centric approach to Total Rewards for OT.
This role is vital to ensure that the remuneration framework and benefits can be established successfully during an extremely important period of growth for OT. To ensure success in this role, we are seeking individuals who hold tertiary qualifications in Human Resource.
At least 3 to 4 years' experience, working in an analytical role preferably in a large private sector organization with exposure to Remuneration systems, is required. Experience building strong relationships with a team consisting of diverse cultural backgrounds will set you apart from others. You will also demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and a zero harm approach.
