The Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) is a European Union body which plays a central role in the completion of the internal markets for electricity and natural gas. ACER complements and coordinates the work of national regulatory authorities for energy, participates in the creation of European network rules and monitors the internal markets and wholesale energy trading.

The Head of the Gas Department will:

  • lead, coordinate and manage the Gas Department
  • contribute to the definition of the Agency’s work programme
  • contribute to the follow up of Agency’s proposals, opinions and recommendations
  • implement, ensure and monitor the proper implementation of EU policies or application of EU legislation in the area of activity of the Department.

ACER is looking for candidates with:

  • a university education in a field relevant to this post such as engineering, economics or equivalent.
  • at least 15 years of professional experience of which at least 10 in the energy sector and at least 5 years in the gas sector.

The successful candidate will be recruited as an EU Temporary Agent at AD11 level for a period of 5 years which can be renewed. The place of employment will be Ljubljana (Slovenia), where ACER is based.
