Architect Deloitte - Washington, DC

Working as a member of the Business Solutions Architecture Shared Services organization within the Global Office of Information Management, the Application Architect will be focused on defining the Solution Architecture of enterprise-class Portal and Web Content Management solutions. The successful candidate will have a minimum of ten (10) years progressively senior experience in application development and/or application architecture. This individual will join an enthusiastic, fast-paced and dynamic team at Deloitte. Key Responsibilities
  • Defines solution architecture for globally deployed, enterprise-class products
  • Leverages existing COTS products and seeks to minimize custom development activity associated with 3 rd party products
  • Develops Candidate and Software Architecture Documentation
  • Conducts proofs-of-concept and develops prototypes
  • Conducts architectural requirements elicitation processes
  • Participates in architectural peer review activities, and performs design reviews to ensure alignment to the architectural approach
  • Works with the Chief Architect and Program Architects to drive architectural maturity
  • Acts as key technical trusted advisor to Business Solutions leadership and understands and contributes to product visioning, feasibility and architectural approach definition
  • Partners with Business Solutions leadership to engage business stakeholders to understand client need
  • Provides guidance, oversight to the Development organization engaged on projects
  • Maintains relationships and collaborates with architects in other domains including infrastructure, security and business domains
  • Identifies technical, human resource and business process implications of future product offerings and enhancements
  • Envisions new technical capabilities and common applications components. Contributes to business case development associated with technology investment needs
  • Maintain relationships with strategic vendors to understand offerings and roadmaps
  • Participates in technology selection efforts


The successful candidate will meet most of the following requirements:
  • 10+ years' experience designing, building and deploying enterprise solutions with exposure to multiple software packages/vendors, programming languages and technology platforms
  • Experience with Java, .Net and web services
  • Experience architecting Portal solutions with Microsoft SharePoint 2010 or OpenText Dynamic Portal
  • Experience architecting Web Content Management solutions with Microsoft SharePoint 2010 or OpenText Web Experience Management
  • Experience integrating sites with Search Engines, Web Analytics and Social Networks
  • Understanding of Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and related products such as InfoPath, SQL Server, ISA Server, Exchange Server, etc. would be plus
  • Experience with systems architectural concepts and patterns
  • Demonstrated ability to stay current with Application Architecture best practices, existing and emerging technology platforms, architectural and systems engineering industry trends
  • Experience with formal software development methodologies, with a focus on Rational Unified Process and Agile
  • Proficiency with the Rational ALM suite is a plus
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure and security architecture concepts
  • Experience with data and application integration issues, solutions and tools
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver presentations to executives on architectural approaches to gain consensus, including an ability to translate complex technical topics to audiences with a range of technical sophistication
  • Very advanced interpersonal and communication skills is essential
  • Flexibility, energy and ability to work well with others in a virtual, geographically dispersed team environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in technical field
