Description

Human Surveillance Technical Officer/Advisor—Responsibilities - Conduct an assessment and review of human infectious disease surveillance systems and response at national, regional, district, and local levels in Tanzania. Qualifications - Tanzanian professional with applied epidemiologic training and experience, preferably in the conduct of infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and response in human populations, knowledge of WHO- International Health Regulations, TZ legal frameworks, case definitions, clinical signs and symptoms, reporting requirements, specimen collection and basic laboratory diagnostics, public health / disease prevention, control and response, and connections with Ministry of Health officials at national, regional, district levels, as well as the Tanzanian FETP, and CDC.

Livestock Surveillance Technical Officer/Advisor—Responsibilities - Conduct an assessment and review of livestock infectious disease surveillance systems and response at national, regional, district, local levels. Qualifications - Tanzanian professional with applied epidemiologic training and experience, preferably in the conduct of infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and response in livestock populations, knowledge of OIE priority diseases, reporting requirements, and Performance of Veterinary Services (PVS) tool, FAO Trans-boundary Diseases, TZ legal frameworks, case definitions, clinical signs and symptoms, reporting requirements, animal disease prevention and control methods, and specimen collection and basic laboratory diagnostics, and connections with Ministry of Agriculture and animal health officials at national, regional, district levels, as well as with OIE, FAO.

Wildlife Surveillance Technical Officer/Advisor-- Responsibilities - This person will conduct the assessment and review of wildlife infectious disease /health information systems and response at national, regional, district, local levels. Qualifications - Tanzanian professional with applied epidemiologic training and experience, preferably in the conduct of infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and response in wildlife populations, knowledge of OIE priority wildlife diseases, and reporting requirements, case definitions, clinical signs and symptoms, and specimen collection and basic laboratory diagnostics, connections with Ministry of Tourism and wildlife, TAWIRI, universities and NGOs working in the detection and or monitoring of infectious diseases in Tanzanian wildlife and wildlife health officials at national, regional, district levels, as well as with OIE and FAO.

Laboratory scientist—Responsibilities - This person will assess a wide range of national laboratory capacity. Qualifications - Tanzanian professional knowledgeable of laboratory diagnostics for human and animal pathogens, laboratory training, biosecurity and safety regulations, equipment, personal protective equipment, laboratory operations/management, budgets, and costs, the laboratory epidemiologic interface, equipment, reagents, laboratory reporting requirements, and connections with CDC laboratories, NAMRU-3, WRAIR, AFRIMS, and other international partner laboratories.

Health Finance and Surveillance System Specialist— Responsibilities - This person will assess the cost and effectiveness (including integration) of existing and prospective human, livestock, wildlife disease surveillance systems and research. Qualifications - Tanzanian professional with expertise in health systems that support disease surveillance.
