Description

DAI is seeking Chief of Party (COP)/ Program Director candidates for anticipated USAID and other international-donor funded health projects. DAI implements public health programming with a broader development focus working through health systems strengthening, governance, public private partnerships, capacity development and civil society engagement to improve health outcomes across technical areas including maternal and child health, food and nutrition, HIV, food security, emerging pandemic threats, and neglected tropical diseases.


Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership and technical and managerial direction for the successful implementation of the project.
• Act as the primary point of contact with donor agencies with regard to day-to-day implementation and management matters relating to the contract.
• Responsible for the overall performance and results of the project, including management and oversight of the program’s technical, operational, and administrative staff.
• Serve as key liaison to USAID or other donor, host government counterparts, local organizations, other stakeholders and program partners. Ensure that the project activities are meeting client and stakeholder expectations and that project results are proactively disseminated.
• Manage long-term expatriate and local team and short-term experts in achieving project results.
• Develop and implement annual program work and performance milestone plans and negotiates an agreement of those plans with donor and other partner organizations.
• Ensure the timely and quality completion of all program technical and financial deliverables and reports in accordance with donor guidelines.


Required Qualifications:


• Masters Degree in public health an advanced degree in a related field with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience;
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing and leading technical and administrative teams for complex health projects, including at least five years experience in long term developing country-based health leadership positions;
• Technical knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas: nutrition and livelihoods; institutional capacity building for health service delivery; health systems strengthening (including health governance); public private partnerships that seek to support or improve public health outcome; HIV/AIDS prevention; maternal and child health service delivery; and capacity building for the prevention of and response to Emerging Pandemic Threats;
• Prior successful experience managing, as Chief of Party, USAID or other donor-supported development projects in the area of public health required;
• Knowledge of USAID or other donor planning and reporting systems, operations, programming, and structure;
• Ability to build strong relationships with senior officials in government, donor missions and business community; and,
• Fluency in English is required; second language preferred.
