FSA Insurance supervisors

Why join The FSA – soon to become the Prudential Regulatory Authority?
The unique nature of our organisation will give you an unparalleled insight into the financial services world. You will also have access to a range of career and development opportunities, enabling you to broaden and deepen your existing experience and to learn new skills. Most importantly, you will be part of an organisation that works to provide stability and security to businesses and individuals during these complex financial times.

The role
These positions are part of the Prudential Business Unit’s Insurance Division which is responsible for the prudential supervision of retail and wholesale insurance firms in the UK.

You will be one of a number of newly appointed Senior Associates working closely with a range of well-known insurers. You will be responsible for analysing their business models, assessing risks and providing solutions to overcome these. You will also build up strong relationships with firms’ senior management in order to persuade them to make sometimes difficult decisions that strengthen their businesses and protect policyholders.

The requirements
We are interested in meeting with professionals with substantial experience in the financial services sector, as well as those with relevant skills and similar backgrounds from other sectors.

We do not require particular qualifications and you will receive appropriate training and support once you are in a supervisory role. There are however three key qualities that will be central to you success:
• Strong numerical analysis skills
• Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
• The ability to persuade and influence senior decision-makers

About the FSA
The FSA is an independent body that regulates the financial services industry in the UK. We have been given a wide range of rulemaking, investigatory and enforcement powers in order to fulfill our statutory objectives. We will shortly be split into the Prudential Regulatory Authority, which will become part of the Bank of England and the Financial Conduct Authority. These posts are in prudential supervision.
