Head of Banking Department Basel, Switzerland

The Bank for International Settlements is a global forum for monetary and financial cooperation and a bank for central banks.

The BIS invites applications for the position of Head of Banking Department, an appointment at the Bank’s executive level. Leading a department of 100 staff and reporting directly to the Bank’s General Manager, you will implement the Banking Department’s strategy to support its customer base of central banks and supranational organisations by offering attractive banking and investment services. In addition, you will be responsible for the management of the Bank’s assets and liabilities and for ensuring a profitable return on the Bank’s financial services. You will also represent the Banking Department externally and participate in the Bank’s overall strategic planning and management.

We would like to meet candidates with at least 10 years of experience in a visible, senior position at a leading financial institution, central bank or supranational financial organisation. You will have a clear record of achievement in international banking, with specific expertise in treasury, asset/liability management and/or portfolio management. You will have an advanced degree in finance, economics or equivalent discipline, and you will demonstrate a deep understanding of the institutional environment for central banks and supranational financial organisations. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills in English.
