HVAC Design Engineer - Toyota Motor Engineering

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc (TEMA) is the alignment of Toyota's North American R&D and manufacturing operations, joining the operations, planning and technical functions. Established in April 2006, TEMA strengthens Toyota's North American customer focus, through improved supplier cooperation, overall speed, flexibility and attention to quality. TEMA headquarters in Erlanger, KY, house the Toyota Operations Center and the Toyota Planning Center. The main offices for the Toyota Technical Center are in Ann Arbor and Saline, MI. The HVAC Design Engineer position is in the ED4 Department, located in Saline, MI.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate design and development of HVAC and HVAC components.
  • Understand Toyota methodologies and processes for vehicle development
  • Schedule for, make, design and issue parts drawings using CAD
  • Plan development with suppliers and follow-up to keep their schedule and their meeting of Toyota performance requirements.
  • Investigate and make countermeasures for field issues
  • Report weekly status to Management and support regular department reporting
  • Benchmark competitors vehicles
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BSME Degree
  • 1-5 Years of Experience in automotive design engineering of HVAC parts of the vehicle.
  • 1 Year of Experience working with CATIA or CAD systems
  • General understanding and application of standard engineering theory, principles, and problem solving techniques.
  • Analytical problem solving abilities.
  • Effective project and schedule management abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with suppliers, design, manufacturing and Toyota Japan
  • Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally
