As part of a strategic growth plan, the USB is seeking, in a first tranche of appointments, to recruit three full-time members of the Faculty of Economic & Management Sciences. The posts are available at Full Professor, Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer level, according to experience.

Any academic topic area appropriate to an international business school is relevant, but applications in the specific areas of Accounting and Finance are particularly welcome.

Research is a particular priority for the School, which is in the process of building clusters of international research relevant to its mission of being “a knowledge partner of Africa in the world and for the world in Africa”.

Part of the motivation for this tranche of recruitment is to increase senior leadership capacity in the School, particularly in respect of Head of Research and Head of Accreditation. Additionally there will be opportunities for senior appointees to lead significant new international programme developments over the next two years. These positions will be filled on a fixed-term basis and will report directly to the USB Director.

Please clearly indicate the post level at which you are applying.

Duties:

Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer
• Developing and delivering academic content for the School in an appropriate subject area (Finance and Accounting are preferred, but any academic subject area relevant to the Business School is acceptable);
• contributing to research output at international publication level.

Professor/Associate Professor
• Acting as Head of Research or Head of Accreditation.

Requirements:

Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer
• A relevant doctorate (except for Accountancy/Finance applications at Senior Lecturer level where a Master’s degree, together with a professional qualification and extensive commercial/industrial experience, will be considered);
• a strong existing research track record, together with further development potential;
• experience in supervising postgraduate students.

Professor
• A strong international research profile.

Professor/Associate Professor
• Experience in a senior leadership role and willingness to act in such a role.

Commencement of duties: 1 October 2012
Closing date: 20 June 2012
