Postdoctoral Scholar Positions in Quantitative Resistance to Plant Disease

Description: The first position will entail studying the inheritance of quantitative resistance to plant disease using QTL analyses and other appropriate approaches. A large amount of field data from mapping populations and other studies are available for several diseases of wheat, and additional field data will be generated as part of the position. The second position is to develop modeling approaches to study the potential for pathogens to adapt to quantitative resistance. Though parameterization data sets from plant pathogens would likely be used, developing concepts applicable to a broad range of pathogens is desired. Salary will be based on University guidelines for postdoctoral fellows.

Qualifications: Candidates should be highly motivated and possess a recent Ph.D. in quantitative genetics, plant breeding, plant pathology, or other related field. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. Experience with QTL analyses and genetic mapping is required for the first position and experience with mathematical modeling is required for the second position.

Application Instructions: To apply for this position, please e-mail a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, copies of peer-reviewed publications, and contact information for three references to:
