Senior Advisor Green Entrepreneurship

What is your responsibilty?
You are responsible for the development of policies and strategies within the Green Entrepreneurship program, notably related to smallholders and the challenge to create the right incentives for the transformation towards more sustainable and profitable production systems. You have an eye for changing dynamics and innovations within the sector. The development, funding and implementation of innovative programs is a key part of your responsibilities. You collaborate closely with the other Senior Advisors within Hivos and especially within the Sustainable Economic Development department (whose focus is on inclusive, green financial services and renewable energy) to reach the objectives of the Green Entrepreneurship program. You provide advice and support to the program officers working at the Head Office and at the six regional offices, while you use their input and expertise to develop innovative policies and programs. You are able to present Hivos’ vision in the field of green entrepreneurship in an attractive and leading way during conferences and seminars. You feel comfortable in building networks with relevant strategic partners and donor agencies in North and South.

What we expect:
You have an advanced degree in a relevant field at University level.
Next to that you have ample experience with entrepreneurship development in North and South, of which at least 5 years in the field of agriculture and related to small-scale producers in a developing country.
You have a strong affinity for Hivos’ mission as well as for social and environmental concerns. You also have a convincing track-record in program development, resource mobilization and collaboration with the private sector. We expect you not only to have a strong vision on green entrepreneurship in rural areas but also a good sense for new developments and innovations.
Naturally you have experience as an advisor or facilitator of complex multi-actor initiatives.
We expect you to have excellent – externally oriented – communication skills, both verbally as well as in writing in English, Dutch and preferably Spanish

What we offer: An inspiring and dynamic working environment, dedicated colleagues, and the possibility of regular travels to the regions. A one-year contract with possibility of an extension. The salary depends on experience up to a maximum of € 4.100,25 gross (grade 12), based on a 32-hour workweek. Travelcost compensation in accordance with Hivos Regulations.
