Chief Executive Officer, Concern Worldwide


Concern Worldwide is an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and suffering in the world’s poorest and most fragile countries. Over the last forty years Concern has established itself as a leader in rapid response emergency and long term development work, aimed at empowering the poorest.
Concern is Ireland’s largest international humanitarian organisation with headquarters in Dublin and offices in London, Belfast, Glasgow (UK Subsidiary), New York and Chicago (US Affiliate). Concern Worldwide has operations covering 25 countries in Asia, Africa and the Caribbean with approximately 3,200 staff.
The CEO will be responsible for leading the organisation in Ireland, UK and its global operation. The ideal person, to be appointed to this position, will be a leader who can inspire the organisation and be respected internationally in the humanitarian and development sectors. He/she must be able to build relationships at the highest level with Governments, Multilateral agencies, Communities and the Private sector in order to influence policy outcomes that have the greatest possible effects on ending poverty.
The person will need to have the experience of living and/or working in the developing world, hold a deep understanding of the ethos and work of an international NGO and have a broad awareness of the economic, social, political and cultural situations within which Concern operates. He/she must be strongly motivated to end poverty and achieve equality and justice for individuals and communities.
