We are looking for an Emergency Programme Officer for our India country programme. This position involves supporting Christian Aid’s response to humanitarian crisis in India. The post holder would be required to support partner organisations to implement rapid, effective and principled responses to emergencies that align with Christian Aid’s country strategy. In addition, it is expected that the person will support partners on larger advocacy issues related to emergencies with relevant stakeholders and contribute to Christian Aid’s policy and advocacy agenda on disaster reduction and on social inclusion mainstreaming in disaster management.
Candidates need to have a degree in a development-related discipline, with substantial programme management experience in the areas of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation with focus on documentation, research, networking and advocacy. Other essentials are excellent writing skills in English, as well as IT skills and ability to communicate effectively in English and other South Asian regional languages. This is a fixed-term contract for up to three years, with the possibility of extension for up to five years, depending on the availability of funding.
