Human Rights Watch is seeking a full time Regional Manager for the Information Technology (IT) division. The IT Division is led by the Director of Global IT and is responsible for the development and implementation of global technology strategies and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for the design, development and maintenance of regional IT infrastructure;
2. Manage and supervise the Help Desk function and Admin Desk Function to ensure timely and efficient service including participation in end-user support, as well as installation and maintenance of help desk management software;
3. Assist with network administration of Windows-based desktop and server platforms, including Microsoft ADS and Exchange servers;
4. Maintain and update network operating systems and hardware;
5. Provide administration and support for all networking protocols (TCP/IP, etc.);
6. Apply patches and updates to networked application software;
7. Monitor all the servers using the monitoring softwares and maintain health and performance of the servers;
8. Provide complementary support to network administrator and computer technicians with in the team;
9. Work in conjunction with IT staff and consultants to ensure all configurations and modifications are documented;
10. Support LAN/WAN communications, email services, and system and network security, including troubleshooting network problems, ensuring LAN recovery following outages or service interruptions, and assist IT team, as required;
11. Manage the backing up of data, including monitoring end-user backups, automating backup routines, and backup software maintenance;
12. Perform research on technology based products, updates, solutions and tools;
13. Travel is required 30% of the time; and
14. Perform additional responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field is required.
Experience: Minimum five years of progressively responsible professional IT experience in an international organization including experience with global IT services; experience with Email servers, Blackberry servers and other internal servers; experience in the administration, operation and maintenance of Windows-based LAN/WANs, training new staff. Documentation and supervisory experience.
