ICCO is a faith based Dutch organization for international development cooperation. Worldwide we offer financial support and advice to local organizations and networks that develop access to basic needs, we stimulate sustainable economic development and promote peace and democracy. ICCO works in alliance with Edukans, Kerk in Actie and Prisma, Yente, ZZG and Share People.
The ICCO organization consists of a Global Office (GO) in Utrecht and 7 Regional Offices (RO), in South Africa, Mali, Uganda, Nepal, Indonesia, Nicaragua and Bolivia. With approx. 270 employees (60% non-Dutch) and a budget of 70M€ we work in a coherent framework of specific themes to fight poverty, injustice and provide emergency relief.  ICCO is a networking organization that works with other NGO’s, governments and private sector parties.
Raising funds to execute our thematic programs in the regions is a core activity for ICCO. We finance our work via private funds raised via our alliance partners, the Dutch government and via institutional donor organizations like Europe Aid, ECHO, Regional Development Banks, multilateral organizations and foundations.

In Utrecht the Institutional donor Unit supports and coordinates fundraising activities for the whole organization. This core unit supports a network of 8 regional funding officers that work in the regional offices. In the coming years the fundraising activities will be further intensified and diversified. ICCO has not only the ambition to increase its program budgets in the coming years, but also to attract funds from other donor sources and of a different nature. This requires a substantial increase of our fundraising activities. ICCO chose already to realize a substantial part of these ambitions in cooperation with private sector parties and via public private partnerships.
To reinforce the current Institutional Donor Unit and to contribute to our ambitious development plans, ICCO is looking for an entrepreneurial
Manager Fundraising Unit Institutional Donors (M/F)
Filling this vacancy is a next step in further developing our fundraising activities to secure the budgets needed for our work. The manager of the institutional Fundraising Unit will play an important role in translating ICCO’s strategic development goals into effective fundraising strategies.
Your responsibilities:
  • The further development and planning of ICCO’s  Fundraising strategies and activities in the medium and long term.
  • Creating  an enabling environment for fundraising within ICCO, such as:
    •  Stimulating an active cooperation between marketing and communication and fundraisers on Global Office and Regional Office level;
    • Enhancing active cooperation between sector specialists and fundraisers in profiling ICCO;
    •  Ensuring fine tuning of work processes between relevant support units of ICCO’s Global Office, such as finance and administration, internal audit and compliance unit.
  • Management and reinforcement of the Institutional Donor Unit at GO level.
  • Build, maintain and manage relations with institutional donors on strategic and corporate level and develop donor related fundraising strategies.
  • Stimulate and develop new cooperation opportunities with and between members of the ICCO Cooperative.
  • You will report directly to the Director Investments and Fundraising.
We are looking for an entrepreneurial and creative personality with leadership capacities and senior experience in institutional fundraising. The person we are looking for to complement our team should have the ambition to develop ICCO’s fundraising activities substantially and should be able to build on his/her existing institutional donor relation network and explore and develop new innovative funding modalities.
 Your profile:
  • Management and organization skills
  • Result driven and entrepreneurial
  • Talent to work  with multiple stakeholders (internal/external);
  • Senior experience on institutional fundraising,
  • A relevant network amongst institutional donor organizations
  • Able to deliver quality on time within budget;
  • Team player networker and good communicator
  • Fluent in Dutch and English; knowledge of French or Spanish is a pre
  • Ability and preparedness for frequent travelling
  • Positive attitude towards the protestants identity of ICCO
Our Offer 
We offer a position with excellent and challenging perspectives for development. Remuneration will be competitive and dependent upon education and work experience. We would like to fulfill the position ASAP, for the duration of one year, with an option for continuation. The function is located in the Global Office in Utrecht.
