Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Specialist

The role:
- To develop and implement Nondestructive testing analyses techniques in Sishen Mine.
- To be certified in the application of Industrial NDT methods and interpretation of results as enforced by Law and/or by applied codes and standards.
- To evaluate the properties of a material, component or system by doing Nondestructive examination, Nondestructive inspection and/or Nondestructive evaluation.
- Must be competent and understand the use of the different NDT methods such as Visual and Optical Testing, Radiography, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Ultrasonic Testing, Dye Penetrant Inspection, Electromagnetic Testing, Leak Testing and Acoustic Emission Testing.
- Building and Maintaining of an NDT Database
- Perform consulting work for KIO and external organizations that are KIO clients or business partners.
- Perform failure investigations and repairs of structures and components.
- Develop a program to do routine NDT inspections on critical Structures and Components.
- Welds are tested as require by the Welding Technologist or LMI department.
- Identification and implementation of improvement projects to improve welding and material standards.
- Liaison with other heads, foreman, tradesman and suppliers for problem solving and to improve communication.
- Living the Values of KIO.
- Management of SHEQ (SHEQ documentation, ISO 14000 and ISO 9002), BBC program and STEP.
You will need:
- Knowledge in Maintenance practises, Engineering Design and Principles on Mining and Plant equipment.
- Courage and confidence, self-starter, willingness to learn, conceptual ability and problem solving.
- To provide direction, motivate and develop others.
- To be analytical. (Good judgement, problem analyses, technical skills, dynamism)

Requirements:
- Appropriate B Tech Degree (Mechanical)
- Trade Certificate (Mechanical) with two years' experience.
- Level 2 NDT Certification will serve as recommendation.
