PATH is home to the Malaria Control and Evaluation Partnership in Africa (MACEPA) which supports National Malaria Control programs in Africa to rapidly apply a package of malaria control interventions to a high proportion of the population and to document the health and economic benefits that result. A key component of this work is to educate policymakers about the tools and approaches that can be adapted and shared between and across countries to achieve elimination of the disease, and to secure the resources necessary to do so.
MACEPA is seeking a Policy & Advocacy Assistant to support the Policy and Advocacy department's engagement with advocates, policymakers, with partners and production of communications materials. This position will report to the Malaria Control Program's Director of Pollicy and Advocacy and will be part of a team of 8 staff working to promote MACEPA's policy and advocacy goals. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Provide operational support to MACEPA Policy & Advocacy including scheduling meetings; coordinating travel; coordinating sensitive internal and external correspondence; compiling and organizing relevant background materials; tracking and recording contracts, printing and other admiistrative tasks.
  • Assist in planning for Advocacy & Policy events and coordination of logistics related to events.
  • Manage and build contracts database, draft letters and other correspondence for external partners and stakeholders.
  • Prepare background information for policy decisions, meetings, advocacy and other outreach.
  • Review daily global health policy and advocacy coverage and correspondence for items relevant to MACEPA initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking, and record keeping, electronic files and other resources.
  • Draft, edit and proofread a variety of documents including those intended for internal and external audiences, web and print communications using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software and database programs.
  • Assist with completion of administrative forms, including procurement request forms, check requests and meal conference forms.

Required Experience
Bachelor's degree plus minimum two years' experience supporting a team working within multiple geographies. Experience in communicating and scheduling with countries other than the US. Experience in working with team conducting advocacy or policy work preferred.
