We are seeking to appoint a full time Research Assistant to conduct entomological laboratory tasks as part of an exciting collaborative project investigating new ways to control bed bugs. 
The successful applicant will have experience in medical entomology or parasitology and some previous experience of entomological trials. Knowledge of chemical control of vectors is essential and experience of vector ecology and behaviour would also be advantageous. The applicant also should also have excellent teamwork, organisational and scientific skills. 
  • Science degree and MSc in Entomology (or related discipline)
  • Good experimental mind and excellent attention to detail
  • Evidence of carrying out experiments to a high scientific standard
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to perform statistical analysis on biological data
  • Proven ability to work as a team player
  • Excellent IT skills including use of Microsoft desktop applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and statistical software
  • A high degree of personal motivation, including the ability to work independently and organize own priorities 
The post is funded for a period of 12 months and is available from 7th January 2013. Salary is £31065.00 (inclusive of London Weighting). The successful candidate will be placed on the scales according to skills and experience.
