A Procurement Officer is required to join the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. This is a great opportunity to lead Faculties procurement and support the transformation of procurement across the School. As a leader in public health research and post-graduate education, the School's mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and across the world.
The new Procurement Officer will be responsible for all operations in one of the School's Faculties and will form part of a wide group Procurement Team utilising a business partner model for service delivery. They will work with the Head of Procurement and other colleagues to deliver the School's vision and ensure high quality modern procurement systems and service management. This will drive benefits for the Faculties and the wider School and support growth and the mission.
You will join the School at an important point in the transformation of support services and their alignment with the Schools aims and objectives. The new procurement function will form a major part of this change and you will play a full role in shaping both the service and delivering the benefits.
In addition to responsibilities involved in the operational management of a complex higher education institution, a significant part of the role will be to set up, develop and lead a new service to the Faculty and wider School using a business partner model. You will be supported by a central team that will interface with other key support services to provide a comprehensive support function to the Faculty and its leadership team. The role will report to the Head of Procurement.
Applicants must have significant procurement experience and preferably be CIPS qualified, with strong leadership and excellent interpersonal skills as well as the business acumen and gravitas to meet the challenge of this role. S/he should be comfortable at handling competing operational demands whilst ensuring an effective sourcing service is delivering our strategic objectives. A scientific background and/or experience of working within a scientific environment is desirable. The role is a challenging but highly rewarding opportunity for the right candidates.
