Start the new year with a new job and this one is working on the biggest single game changing project in English Regions, ViLoR. (Virtualisation of Local Radio) This aims to change fundamentally the way that English Regions deploys and supports its Local Radio output by moving the majority of the broadcast hardware that is presently deployed to two central points in England. This role is specifically to lead the BSC team’s support modeling around the ViLoR service and will work closely with the ViLoR Project team to define and manage the Service Design and Transition into business as usual.

 

The English Regions Broadcast Support Centre is a high paced, telephone based engineering support department providing essential support to the English Regions Local Radio and Regional TV stations around the country. It provides a central reference area and expertise for the Video, Audio and Transmission systems and associated workflows and installations in the broadcast chain and the output platforms. As a constantly developing area we are continually seeking to improve our processes and methodologies of support our systems and we are working towards an ITIL based model for support. 

Role

 
Reporting to the Service Co-ordinator BSC you’ll deliver comprehensive support services and be responsible for managing the signals and transmission equipment (including a range of broadcast and IT equipment). In addition, you’ll support activities and operations required in Regional Centres and Local Radio Stations. You’ll be required to work a range of different shifts including night shifts, late night finishes and early morning starts, and may be required to work at different regional sites as relief cover at times. This role is intended to be a days based worker for at least 6 months as the model is designed and understood.

Requirements

 

Excellent knowledge of IT and networks allied with broadcast engineering or similar background, or be able to demonstrate an ability to develop the skills required. You must be customer focused, personally resilient and have a calm and knowledgeable telephone manner, and be able to work to deadlines. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills essential and experience in the area of remotely supporting and monitoring technology performance would be desirable.

If a qualified candidate cannot be found we may be prepared to offer a trainee position on a 12 month contract basis or attachment.
