This position is based in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:
• Relocation to Calgary or Fort McMurray

YOUR OPPORTUNITY:
The Construction Manager is an integral part of growth strategy and you will have the opportunity to manage projects valued at approximately $500 million. As a key member of our Project Management team, the Construction Manager will play a significant role in the successful completion of our growth plans and plant expansions throughout the life cycle of the projects ensuring efforts are aligned and the project is completed on time and on budget.

You will have the opportunity to take ownership and apply your expertise and leadership skills in leading, coaching and mentoring a construction team made up of staff and contractors with the goal to meet all milestones, scheduled timelines and exceed safety requirements.

• Take the lead on hiring, training and performance management to build and develop your team
• Drive team activity and delegate and distribute workload to align activity with wider business objectives
• Ensure budgetary and scheduling targets are met

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
• Develop the construction plans and manage constructability reviews of Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contractors, to ensure proper construction strategies and practices
• Lead quality and safety efforts to keep lost time injuries to an absolute minimum, in compliance with Canadian Natural and Industry standards
• Seek out opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvement and process change
• Play a major role in the successful commissioning, start up and hand over to the operations teams
• Bring your expertise to the table in the development of our construction budget estimates
• Lead in the preparation of construction schedules, setting milestones and schedules and monitor progress against established milestones and schedules
• Fully participate in the preparation of contracts, negotiating revisions, changes and additions with suppliers and subcontractors
• Implement and execute quality control programs
• Lead in the review of detailed Construction Work Packages (CWPs) and Field Installation Packages (FIPs) to ensure completeness of information and adequate integration with engineering, procurement and construction
• Take corrective action for all identified deficiencies to eliminate any potential negative impacts on project schedule and budget

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Typically 15+ years of related industry experience with Engineering Degree (ideally mechanical) or trades certification
• Familiarity with and understanding of:
- Construction Management on project values exceeding $500 million
- Working in a heavy oil or refinery environment
- Piping, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment related to process facilities
