Input Supply/Mechanization Specialist, Republic of Georgia
We are currently seeking an Input Supply/Mechanization Specialist for an anticipated USAID-funded agricultural value chain strengthening and competitiveness program in Georgia.  The project’s focus will be to increase agricultural productivity and strengthen linkages between farmer groups and other actors along the oilseed, hazelnut, fruit and/or vegetable value chains. To achieve this objective, technical components may include improved use of high quality inputs, increasing access to finance, improved use of rehabilitated irrigation, better use of agricultural equipment and technology, building sustainability within local organizations and strengthening linkages to markets and the private sector. The Input Supply/Mechanization Specialist responsibilities for this program may include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
  • Lead, design, and implement program strategy for improving access and use of high quality agricultural inputs, such as seeds, pesticides, fertilizers, and agricultural equipment. 
  • Collaborate with existing Mechanization and Farm Service Centers regarding their equipment and supply of agricultural inputs.
  • Facilitate links with private sector to new, innovative sources of agricultural technology and transfer systems.
  • Facilitate communication among various stakeholders involved in Georgian input supply and mechanization.
  • Promote vertical and horizontal linkages in the input supply industry.
  • Provide progress reports and updates for regular reporting quarterly and annual project reports.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field (agriculture, business, or other related field) is required
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience working in agricultural input supply and mechanization
  • Knowledge of current best technologies for a wide variety of crops, including oilseeds, nuts, fruits and/or vegetables
  • Experience in Georgia or the Caucasus region
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills
