Electrical Engineer II at Sargent Aerospace & Defense

Sargent Aerospace & Defense products are found on many major Commercial and Military aircraft in operation worldwide. Products and systems include hydraulic actuation and valve systems, locking actuators, steering metering control valves, fuse pins, hot forged bolts, pneumatic ducting and valve seals, tubing system alignment joints, engine hot section and structural components, airframe components, shock strut bearings, Teflon lined spherical bearings and broad component maintenance, overhaul, spares logistics and power-by-the-hour support services. Sargent is also a major supplier of hydraulic control valves to the US Navy on all Nuclear Class Submarine programs. Sargent has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer.

Responsibilities:
Electrical design and development.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Evaluates customer requirements for proposals to develop a system level design approach.
• Evaluates electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs.
• Confirms system's and components' capabilities with high confidence and qualified through testing.
• Assures product quality through use of proper design methods and testing finished products and system capabilities.
• Prepares test reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing test data.
• Troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve problems that arise.
• Excellent team working skills to be a team person working with other engineering disciplines.
• Ability to work independently with focus on details and getting things done right the first time.
• Meets commitments and deadlines.
• Achieves results.
• Exceptional skills in science and mathematics.

Preferred Education:
• Knowledge of digital and analog motor controllers, harmonics, PWM, 3-phase motors, embedded systems, control algorithms, hardware design, power electronics, and power supplies.
• Experience designing 3-phase motor controllers, from the component level through the system level is a plus.
• Responsible for developing power solutions, providing schematics and documentation, debugging, testing, and evaluating performance.
• Software ability to program in C and ASSEMBLY.
• Responsible for design and development of variable speed motor control including magnetic structures and specification of magnetic material for a BLDC permanent magnet motor
• Design of circuits including schematic generation and board layout.
• Orcad experience.
