The International Council on Mining & Metals [ICMM] www.icmm.com is a collaborative of the world’s leading mining and metals companies and industry associations. Operating globally from its London HQ, the Secretariat works with its members and others to strengthen environmental and social performance across the industry and enhance its contribution to sustainable development.
The role
• Pivotal strategic, policy, technical and advocacy role to bring alignment within the membership and across the industry on environment and climate change issues
• Engage at the highest levels with stakeholders including governments, indigenous peoples, financial institutions, NGOs, communities, civil society institutions and academia
• Foster collaborative networks of high profile decision makers; provide essential technical and economic advocacy to effect far-reaching positive change
• Address the industry trust deficit by encouraging the adoption of positive and pragmatic operational improvements and principles-based public policies.
The person
• Global environment and climate change expert, accomplished in policy and advocacy, with deep expertise in the technical issues facing mining or resource-based extractive industries
• Extensive technical policy experience across the key facets of both environment and climate change, including energy, land use, water, biodiversity, carbon taxes and national competitiveness
• Skilful advocate and relationship manager with intellectual strength and impressive presence.
• Outstanding academic credentials. Willingness to travel extensively.
