Beyond Borders is a $1.8 million non-profit organization working in Haiti since 1993, with staff also in the U.S. Our mission is to help people build movements for liberation in Haiti, focusing on four key areas: ending child slavery, preventing violence against women and girls, guaranteeing universal access to quality education and supporting sustainable livelihoods. We are seeking an experienced consultant in the field of sexual harassment and gender equality.
I. Objective To equip Beyond Borders and its staff with policy and procedures, knowledge and skills that meet or exceed standards of the non-profit sector for the prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace and ensure the timely and effective investigation and resolution of all harassment allegations.
II. Responsibilities of the Contractor • Guide Beyond Borders staff in the revision of organizational policy and procedures to respond to sexual harassment involving multiple categories of people including: staff member, board member, contractor/consultant, donor, volunteer or intern. Guidelines should include the development of focal points, investigation procedures, counseling for complainant and subject of complaint and specific penalties for complaints that are substantiated; • Develop curriculum and implement two separate trainings for 1) all staff and 2) organizational focal points corresponding to the revised policy and procedures.
III. Responsibilities of Beyond Borders • Provide all necessary policy and procedure documents requested of the consultant; • Designate Beyond Borders staff to work side-by-side with the consultant in the revision of organizational policy and procedures; • Provide administrative support for the preparation of training materials.
IV. Additional Provisions • Allow Beyond Borders staff experienced in the linguistic and cultural adaptation of training materials to use any and all materials developed by the consultant to conduct a training for Creole-speaking staff and partners in Haiti.
V. Time Frame • All work to be completed by Sept. 30, 2013
