PATH seeks a Commercialization Officer in the Water, Sanitation, Air-Quality and Hygiene (WASH) group within the Technology Solutions Global program to work to contribute to the introduction and uptake of important health technologies and services that address these important health issues. In addition to serving as part of the Cambodia WASH team, the Commercialization Officer will also be required to work closely and coordinate with the WASH global team liaison and select technical and administrative staff based in Seattle, USA. Work with the global team will involve working collaboratively with technical disciplines, as well as coordinating with administrators on budgets and agreements. Given PATH’s highly team-oriented culture, a commitment to communication and teamwork is a primary expectation. Under the guidance, supervision and direction of the Senior Program Officer, the Commercialization Officer will undertake specific responsibilities as follows:
  • Work to implement PATH WASH projects in Cambodia including our Sanitation Financing (SanFin) and Healthy Households Initiative (HHI) of health product distribution;
  • In coordination with the Seattle team, lead efforts to guide the Cambodia portion of the HHI, including identifying key partners, surveying stakeholders (product      manufacturers, distributors, retailers, key opinion leaders and financial institutions) and organizing and performing analysis of HHI data;
  • Under the WASH SanFin program, provide guidance to and coordination with partner organizations' staff on issues related to the latrine businesses, independent sales agents and microfinance credit officers;
  • Organize and facilitate monthly sanitation salesperson trainings in collaborate with sanitation and financing partner organization staff;
  • Coordinate sanitation sales staff monthly village sales meeting schedule;
  • Assisted in the creation of SanFin monitoring templates and perform monthly audits of partner reports to identify and correct reporting errors. Resolve differences in reported data between multiple PATH, implementation and financing partners;
  • Coordinate with external accounting firm to perform SanFin loan performance study and resolve partner's reporting challenges;
  • Coordinate and communicate with the government, the private sector, NGOs, and other partners on WASH-related activities including attending and contributing to      sector-wide stakeholder meetings;
  • Work with the WASH team to oversee day-to-day SanFin program implementation and in anticipating, identifying and resolving program challenges;
  • Support logistics and liaise with partners to arrange meetings, trainings, workshops, and field visits;
  • Prepare budgets and forms for project-related activities, review expenditure receipts for accuracy, translate into English and submit to finance team for clearance;
  • Provide interpretation and translation of project documents and materials;
  • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets;
  • Contribute to preparation of project summaries, reports, and program development proposals as needed.
Required Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Computer literacy; competence in MS Office and familiarity with project management software;
  • Well-organized and detail oriented with good follow-through skills and demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment with program and technical staff;
  • Flexible, proactive, adaptable to changing priorities and able to work under strict deadlines;
  • Market research and market analysis skills;
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills in English.
Required Experience
  • Master degree in Business Administration, Accounting or finance required;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in commercialization role – supporting market-based and/or private sector business models;
  • Experience working in the areas of sanitation, water, sales and marketing, and consumer financing;
  • Field experience, developing relationships and building capacity in private sector organizations.
