Our business

The Conflict, Humanitarian & Security Department's Operations Team (CHASE OT) is contracted through Crown Agents by the Department of International Development (DFID) and the Stabilisation Unit (SU) to provide support services and an operational team delivering advice and assistance on humanitarian disasters and emergencies, and the deployment of experts to fragile or conflict affected states.

The Stabilisation Unit (SU), established in 2004, is jointly owned by the Department for International Development (DFID), Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Ministry of Defence (MOD) (the three "parent Departments"). The Unit's role is to support countries emerging from violent conflict, at the request of its parent Departments or the Cabinet Office.
Role and Responsibilities:

The primary purpose of this role is to deploy, support and demobilise staff to UK and overseas deployments. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the deployment, management and demobilisation of staff to UK and overseas including
  • Liaison with SU and field offices
  • Drafting project budget and forecasting
  • Reconciliation of project accounts
  • Reporting to the client
  • Liaison with security advisors, logistics HR and Finance as required
- Provide administrative support to the deployed staff according to prioritised need, including:
  • Arranging travel plans for deployed staff (flights, visa's hotels)
  • Maintaining of Rest and Recuperation (R&R) timetables for programme staff
  • Welfare of contracted staff
  • Maintaining the Attendance sheets of deployed staff
  • Payment of expenses and invoices for deployed staff.
- Manage the briefing and debriefing of DCEs.
- Liaise across CHASE OT and SU departments as required including through attendance at meetings and events
Qualifications, skills and experience
  • A degree level education in a relevant subject
  • Some experience of recruitment, deployment, logistics and/or similar operational ability
  • Experience of managing induction and deployment processes
  • Substantial experience in administration and expense management.
  • Outstanding organisational skills in terms of planning, managing information, controlling timelines and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and proven experience of building excellent working relationships, both internal and external.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex procedures and situations to varied stakeholders/clients
  • A flexible and hands-on approach
