LE III Assistant to Fiscal Crime Liaison Officer (FCLO) British Embassy

A full time vacancy has arisen in the British Embassy for an officer to work as Assistant to the Overseas Fiscal Crime Liaison Network of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). 

HMRC is looking for an individual with good organisational and language skills to support the FCLO in maintaining an effective liaison between HMRC and the competent Belgian Authorities/Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

Main Duties:

  • Interpreting, developing, recording and disseminating information obtained from UK, Belgian authorities and public sources, including preparation of correspondence and communication with host agencies;
  • Attending operational and other meetings to gather information in support of FCLO. Supporting the FCLO in maintaining and establishing relationships within host agencies, with particular responsibility for contacts in Wallonia and Luxembourg;
  • Using departmental and local information systems to identify intelligence and operational links;
  • In support of and under the direction of the FCLO, facilitating communication between local host agencies and UK desk and operational teams, by phone fax and e-mail;
  • Translating intelligence reports, correspondence and other documents in support of the activities of the FCLO;
  • Co-ordinating meeting and travel arrangements for FLO and visiting staff;
  • Translating letters and maintaining non-operational correspondence records/filing;
  • Covering other office functions as required, including financial records and maintenance of stationery supplies and office equipment.

Skills Required:

Essential:

  • Excellent organisational/administrative skills;
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills and a good telephone manner;
  • Ability to multi-task, plan ahead and prioritise;
  • Organises own work, papers and files methodically - excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel;
  • Fluent written and spoken English and French;
  • Ability to demonstrate confidentiality, integrity and reliability;
  • Able to successfully undergo of security clearance procedures;
  • Willingness to work out of hours on occasions if required.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of bi-lateral exchange of intelligence in a Law Enforcement environment;
  • Fluent written and spoken Dutch.
This position will be filled on a 4 year fixed term contract. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Belgium. 
Taxable monthly salary: €2286.10
