Regional trade integration manager , Afghanistan

Chemonics seeks a regional trade integration manager for an anticipated four-year USAID-funded project in Afghanistan under the Public Financial Management indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract. The project will support trade agreements, World Trade Organization accession, and rules compliance; organization of regional trade fairs and private sector matchmaking events; and capacity building for the implementation of reforms in customs, as well as value-added tax in Afghanistan. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 

Responsibilities include:

• Supervise and provide technical guidance to the project's regional trade integration support staff
• Lead implementation of the regional trade integration component work plan activities, such as facilitating the development and implementation of regional trade agreements, assisting the Afghan government to support measures for implementing trade agreements, and working with countries in the region to support the implementation of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation ​Corridors 5 and 6
• Lead project management planning), other project deliverables, and reporting to the client for the regional trade integration component
• Participate in key program planning and management activities and assist the chief of party in the implementation of the annual work plans

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in economics, trade and business law, trade policy, or a related field preferred 
• Minimum 10 years of experience with a doctoral degree, 12 years of experience with master's or JD degree, or 15 years of experience with a bachelor's degree 
• Experience in post-conflict or transitional countries
• Experience managing a large staff in a complex environment
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity 
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing 
• Qualified Afghan nationals are encouraged to apply
• English fluency required
