We are implementing programs to build civil society movement to make government and other institution accountable to communities, to ensure resilient and thriving livelihoods for marginalized communities to face disaster more effectively, by transforming unjust and unsustainable economic policies and practices and working towards creating a more inclusive world by reducing structural and gender based inequality.
Already working in international development with another charity or INGO – possibly as a manager or within a team in a similar area – you’ll see this as an excellent opportunity to manage and lead strategic programming and multi-stakeholder partnership on Disaster Risk Reduction in the multi-hazard climate change affected context of Bangladesh. The Programme Manager for Christian Aid Bangladesh country office will be responsible for effective delivery of the DIPECHO project under DeSHARI consortium (DeSHARI consortium comprises of ACF, Christian Aid, DanChurch Aid, Muslim Aid and Save the Children). The Programme Manager will play a key role in the delivery of project outcomes in close coordination with the Deputy Programme Manager, implementing partner and other consortium members. He/she will be responsible to manage effective partnership with the relevant stakeholders and maintain close collaboration with the implementing partner of the project. He/she will manage specific programme strategies and activities to achieve the objectives stated in the project document, consistent with the strategic direction of Christian Aid in Bangladesh, thereby making a major contribution to the development and articulation of Christian Aid Bangladesh Office’s strategic humanitarian objective.
We are looking for candidate having a high level of commitment to bringing transformational change in the lives of poor and disaster-affected communities. The incumbent is expected to possess a post graduate degree in a Disaster Management or development related discipline, with substantial and relevant programme management experience, including finance management of projects and programmes in the field of disaster risk reduction or disaster preparedness. Other essentials are experience of implementing programmes through a partnership approach; good knowledge of managing institutional donors supported programme of DIPECHO/ECHO; experience in programme appraisal, monitoring and evaluation; training and capacity building, excellent IT skills and language skills in English. Knowledge of other South Asian languages is desirable.
