    Key Responsibilities

    Responsible for overall health, reliability and management of all systems within the organization.
    Ensuring that SMEC South Africa IT and Communication Systems are able to deliver relevant information to all staff at any time and where needed.
    Simplify and standardise methods for collecting and storing information by introducing technology that facilitates processes in the wide variety of locations and conditions under which SMEC South Africa staff work.
    Intergrating and Reporting on
    Ensure the security of information and systems so that business operations are not affected by unauthorised access to information, intrusion, attack or infection.
    Take part in and support training programs that give SMEC South Africa staff skills to derive the most benefit from the tools the SMEC South Africa IT and communications service implements.
    Ensuring IT systems continuity management within the Organization and ensure systems are in place to allow business continuity targets to be met - unavailability of corporate systems should not exceed continuity targets.

    Being part of purchasing hardware and software decisions.
    Facilitate process integration with technology, organization and infrastructure knowledge.
    Facilitate the integration of the organization Core Enterprise System, utilizing key skills in Microsoft technologies including but not limited to Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Sharepoint and the .Net Framework.

    Work with Group IT Manager for the development of detailed implementation plans.
    Development of appropriate business case in support of initiatives.
    Detailed architecture analysis of practices and system.

    Key Performance Indicators

    Health, performance and availability of corporate systems should not exceed continuity targets or interrupt to the extent of revenue or profit detriment because of failures in network, infrastructure or application technologies.
    IT infrastructure is not a limitation to growth strategies
    On time project delivery.
    Increasing efficiencies and productivity of SMEC South Africa staff in their daily tasks through the leverage of Information Technology solutions.
    Internal staff satisfaction goals as measured by regular communication and survey.

    Qualification, Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Information Technology & Communication industry with an MCSE / MCSD / MCDBA / MCTS or relevant IT Degree or Diploma.

  • Must have experience working with server operating systems including but not limited to Windows 2003 / 2008 (extensive Microsoft enterprise technologies experience is required specifically with Microsoft SQL 2008, SharePoint 2010 and Exchange 2010 and Microsoft Windows domains)
    ·  Good T-SQL skills
    ·  Stored Procedures and Triggers
    ·  Database Tuning, Performance monitoring DTS/SSIS Packages Backup and Recovery Database Security SSRS (Highly Beneficial) Maintaining & Reporting on Network Security Assisting with integrating core business systems.
    ·  Must have experience with server hardware, software, and enterprise equipment installation and troubleshooting
    ·  Must have strong technical and interpersonal skills
    ·  Must have the ability to manage and complete tasks with minimal supervision
    ·  Must independently grasp and resolve complex issues Maintenance and upgrading of server systems.
    ·  Must consistently demonstrate initiative, positive attitude, professional mannerisms and commitment to personal, team and company goals
    ·  Ability to troubleshoot support issues, including applications related, and work with appropriate technical resources for resolution
    ·  Attention to detail and 'hands on approach'.
    ·  Assertive & self-confident and must have the ability to liaise with key contacts and staff as well as IT departments within the Organization.
    ·  Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
    ·  Must be prepared to work overtime (if required).
    ·  Must show own initiative and be responsible for their job.
    ·  Proper understanding of process solution assessment, planning and commissioning on a strategic and operational level.
